It’s the romance of a pastoral lifestyle combined with the comfort and convenience of modernity. It’s a celebration of community, camaraderie and bountiful abundance. It’s Harvest. Conceived through a multidisciplinary workshop rooted in a shared vision, Harvest honors the land’s agrarian heritage — a centrally located 5-acre farm yields ample produce for the weekly farmers’ market, and community garden plots let residents exercise their green thumbs — combined with progressive planning and design principles. The community framework prioritizes the pedestrian and features a prominent north/south greenway spine connecting community destinations. Roads terminate on this central greenway and pocket parks are central to each distinct neighborhood. Harvest was one of 13 landscape projects selected for the Landscape Architecture Foundation’s 2017 Case Study Investigation (CSI) program, which documents the benefits of exemplary landscape projects.

The Canals at Grand Park incorporates a compact urban form with complete streets — uncommon in rapidly growing Frisco — and was conceived through diverse stakeholder interaction to shape the guiding vision. A series of distinctive canals organizes the community, provides graceful character and facilitates effective stormwater conveyance — while delivering an engaging pedestrian experience.

wolf ranch – georgetown, texas

Wolf Ranch is a celebration of the Wolf family, which lived in central Texas for generations, and the thoughtful development of its most pristine parcel located along the San Gabriel River in Georgetown. The 755-acre tract was cherished and carefully preserved by the Wolf family for years — it’s a scenic Hill Country setting where the Wolf families grew up, swam in the creeks, shared memories in tree houses and shared first kisses under majestic oaks. Developing this beloved land delicately was a tall task, and the team — design, planning and engineering professionals, family members, community members, a scientist — took the utmost care to preserve those sacred spaces and honor those family stories. The result is a modern Hill Country sanctuary in which the community is an extension of the Wolf family.

union park – little elm, texas

Designed to promote a lifestyle of wellness from initial planning concepts to the physical design, Union Park is an 1,100-acre master-planned community in Little Elm, Texas, approximately 40 miles north of Dallas. TBG led the planning and visioning efforts to create the look and feel of Union Park, and the community concept places wellness and outdoor interaction at the forefront, with extensive parks and open space connecting neighborhoods and providing many opportunities for community gathering and socialization. The outdoor environments are multipurpose and flexible with spaces including a grand lawn, food truck court and various community programs that promote activity. Along with resort-like amenities, the community provides active and passive recreational amenities that promote a healthy lifestyle for residents of all ages. The development will ultimately include 2,400 single-family homes as well as a wooded 30-acre park featuring greenbelts, trails, ponds, amphitheater and an amenity center envisioned as the community hub.

the groves – humble, texas

The Groves is an immersive community with rich natural character — it provides residents with a genuine connection to nature that becomes the backdrop, and an integral element, of their daily lives. The 993-acre site is full of towering pine trees, which were carefully preserved and provide a distinctive ambience of living in the woods. Madera Creek passes through and helps organize the long, linear site, with neighborhoods and trails — accented with spontaneous gathering nodes featuring elements like log steppers and hammocks — leading to the water. Amenities include the Hearth, a large pavilion, pool and grand, stacked stone fireplace that feels like a lake house, and Fish Camp, a designated fishing area surrounded by log seating areas and benches. The lifestyle center includes a great lawn, splash pads, trails, yard games and playground.

urban at olive – san antonio, texas

In a neighborhood lacking conventional stormwater infrastructure, Urban at Olive provides an innovative approach to stormwater management in small, single-family neighborhood in San Antonio. Rainfall in this area has traditionally sheet-flowed off the streets and ended up in the San Antonio River. By implementing a vegetated bioswale, stormwater runoff is now both slowed and treated before entering the river. Low Impact Development was incorporated throughout the common green space, creating a strong sense of identity around the ethos of living at Urban at Olive.

artavia – conroe, texas

Thoughtfully and colorfully designed, ARTAVIA is a vibrant and welcoming community in Conroe, Texas, just 40 miles north of Houston. From meditation and play areas to community gathering spaces, the community offers residents a variety of amenities. Other amenities include miles of winding trails through the trees and along the boardwalk on the lake. The five-acre community lake is an ideal setting for outdoor exercise including fit stations, paddle boating and areas for residents to launch their own kayak.

easton park – austin, texas

An urban master-planned community 10 miles southeast of downtown, Easton Park prioritizes the type of connected outdoor lifestyle for which Austin is well known — and showcases the value of multidisciplinary partnership united by a shared vision. Soon after joining the project team, which had been working for several months already, TBG initiated a multi-day charrette to coalesce the team around a unified vision, which prioritizes quality open space and stewardship. The community’s 1,500 acres will ultimately include 13.1 miles of trails and 350 acres of parks — ranging from iconic community hubs to intimate neighborhood parks — and ecological restoration and sustainable stormwater approaches are integral community characteristics. The integration of reclaimed materials and art in the landscape, as well as stylish branding, give Easton Park a distinctive and welcoming character.
